Infill markers

Lately I’ve been reviewing some of our firm precedents and the subject of infill markers came to mind.  We currently use a standard marker which includes square brackets inside a text form field, but I’d be interested to hear how others approach this.

Does one size fit all or is there a desire for some practice areas to go their own way?  Are square brackets here to stay?  In an Office 2010 world where text form fields are designated legacy tools are their days numbered… can alternatives such as content controls replace them or will they live to fight another day?
